Accra, July 28, GNA – The Christian Council of Ghana has said the late President John Atta Mills would always be remembered for his love for God and support to the Christian community in making Christ the head of the nation.
A statement issued in Accra by Reverend Dr Fred Deegbe, General Secretary, said the Council received the news of the demise of the late President with utmost bewilderment.
It said it was a painful loss to Ghanaians and that the only thing was to take solace in the fact that the good Lord who gave him to the nation has decided to call him home.
“The Council conveys to Dr Mrs Naadu Mills, the Government, members of the National Democratic Congress and the good people of Ghana its deepest condolence in this time of sorrow,” added.
The statement described the late Ghanaian leader as one who was loyal, firm, polite, peaceful and have humble demeanor.
In another development, the Council has congratulated the President John Dramani Mahama on assumption of office as the President of the land.
It prayed that the good Lord would grant the new President grace, wisdom and guidance to effectively complete what the late President started.
