Ekumfi Eyisam (C/R), July 28, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ekumfi District is to mark one week of the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday, July 31 at Ekumfi Essuehyia.
Mr Kwame Nkrumah, Ekumfi Constituency Chairman of the NDC, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Ekumfi Eyisam near Mankessim on Friday.
Mr Nkrumah expressed the condolence of the constituency to President John Dramani Mahama, the government and the people of Ghana on the untimely death of former President Mills who was a citizen of the constituency.
He appealed to President Mahama to appoint his Vice President and running mate from the Central Region if possible the Ekumfi District as a sign of recognition of the good work of Prof Mills.
The NDC Chairman also appealed to the electorate to vote massively for the party in the upcoming elections to show appreciation for the work of the late President.
For his part, Mr Abeiku Crentsil, NDC parliamentary candidate for the constituency, appealed to the party to put behind it the shock of the death of the late President and rally forces for a sustained campaign to make it win massively in the December election to enable it to continue the unfinished work of President Mills.
“The greatest honour Ghanaians can do to the memory of the late Prof Mills is to vote the party back to power,” Mr Crentsil pointed out.
