Accra, July 27, GNA - The Afrikania Mission has expressed condolences to the Government and People of Ghana over the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.
A statement issued by Head of Mission, Osofo Komfo Atsu Kove in Accra on Friday said: “It is with deep sorrow and regret that we in Afrikania Mission and traditional believers mourn the passing of his Excellency, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, our late President of Ghana.”
“The late President was a man of peace. He was a unifier. He was greatly motivated with the admirable purpose of the material, social and economic development of Ghana. He built roads, hospitals, schools and two universities in a matter of three years. Above all he extended electricity to every nook and cranny of Ghana.”
Osofo Kove said the greatest achievement of Professor Mills was “the strong stand he took to maintain the peace Ghana has been enjoying since time immemorial, because he was a man of peace … In all these, he had set an enviable example which future Ghanaian leaders must aspire to emulate”.
“The loss of this great son of Mother Africa is a big blow to Ghana and for that matter Africa as a whole. It is a blow because the youth of today need scholarly role models like Professor Atta Mills. If a country must develop and develop well, the youth need the exemplary life and achievements of our senior citizens.”
The Head of Afrikania Mission expressed love for the President saying: “We love him…but God, the Father-Mother creator, loves him more. May He grant Ghana more leaders with selflessness, tolerance, humility and dedication and may He continue to bless our beloved country.”
Osofo Kove expressed the hope that “his successors shall follow his footstep and continue with the better Ghana agenda for the benefit of posterity.”
He prayed that God and the Ancestors “place his soul among the company of the happy immortals and may the earth lie lightly on his mortal remains and may his soul become a guardian spirit looking after his family and the nation he dearly loved”.
