Akim Oda(E/R), July 27, GNA – Nuode Mensah, a driver, who knocked down a mate killing him instantly, has been granted bail in the sum of GHC5,000 by a magistrate's court at Akim Oda.
Mensah, 54, whose plea was not taken, would reappear on September 25. The case docket has been sent to the Attorney General's Department for advice.
Police Chief Inspector Patience Nyame Darko said on June 16, Mensah, who was driving a truck, carried six passengers, including his mate, Master Kwaku Gyan, 19.
She said at a point near the Atweaman Senior High School at Akim Manso, Gyan got down from the vehicle to take a sack containing foodstuff that had dropped from the truck.
But Mensah reversed the truck and knocked down his mate, killing him.
