DEMISE OF THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA, H.E. PROF. JOHN EVANS ATTA-MILLS

The Embassy regrets to announce, with deep sorrow, the sudden death of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta-Mills.
His death occurred Tuesday 24th July, 2012, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, Ghana, while receiving medical attention after being taken ill few hours earlier.
In accordance with Article 60 (6) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, the Vice President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has been sworn into office to serve the remaining term of office of the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
The Embassy mourns with our compatriots and friends of Ghana at this difficult time and calls on them to join in prayer for his soul to rest in peace.
A book of condolence will be opened at the Embassy on Thursday, 26th, Friday 27th and Monday 30th July, 2012 between 1000 hrs and 1230 hrs and 1400 hrs to 1630 each day.
The Embassy will be grateful if the members of the media will announce this information on their media.
