Ellembelle MP- A Role Model to Ghanaian Politicians
22.07.2012 LISTEN

He is a young politician but knows how to play the game very well. With a campaign message which could be described as a novelty, the electorate could not resist him when he made his maiden appearance in the political landscape of the Ellembelle constituency.

The message went down well with the electorate which ousted the then "Ellembelle Mugabe",an accolade the then MP, Mr.Freddie Blay arrogated to himself."

Ellembelle Mugabe" because having captured the seat for three consecutive times making 12 years in the house, that office had been consolidated and was becoming extremely difficult for any challenger to unseat him.

To his dismay, the people of Ellembelle voted for a change and ushered in Hon.Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah in January 2009.

As an indigene of that constituency, I can say without any equivocation that there had been a massive transformation in the area for the past three and half years if one should attempt a sharp comparison with Mr. Blay's 12 years.Hon. Kofi Buah is one MP who cannot be faulted.

When we talk about politicians who have the development of the people at heart, he stands tall among the list.

Ever since he took the seat, the sitting MP has never rested in Accra for more than 2 weeks. He is either travelled outside the country on official assignment or he is in the constituency initiating one project or the other.

In fact, he has visited every part of the constituency to interact with the people, learn their concerns for redress. Most of the chiefs in the area attest to this feat.

In his words, the chief of A.B(Amihere Blay) Bokazo,Nana Nwiah Amgboza, did not mince words that though he did not vote for Hon. Kofi Buah during the 2008 Parliamentary elections, his works so far has convinced him that he is a development-oriented leader and has the propensity to win about 95% of votes in his town.

The chief was compelled to pour his heart out when the MP commissioned a GHC32,000 KVIP toilet facility for the town.In the area of education, about 350 students have benefitted from full and half scholarships to pursue higher education and improve their living conditions.

Others are on scholarship abroad to train for the oil and gas industry. It is also his major pre-occupation that the people enjoy affordable health care delivery and has made provision for a GHC100,000 mobile clinic van criss-crossing the length and breath of the constituency.

His constituency office at Nkroful, birthplace of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is strategically located to cater for the needs of the people who want to interact with him.The concerns of the people are forwarded to his office in Accra through his personal e-mail address.

Teachers in both public and private schools are being equipped with Information,Communication,Technology(ICT) skills to impact positively on school children in the area to fit into the global market.

The story about Hon. Kofi Buah is an unending one!If the people of Ellembelle are discerning enough and continue to give him their mandate for some appreciable number of years, the fortunes of the people will be turned around drastically.
