Ho, July 19, GNA - The Ho Diocese of the Catholic Church on Thursday presented sets of tools to 108 artisans from 30 communities in the diocese.

A total of 116 artisans had already benefitted from the package in 2011.

The support formed part of the diocese's three- year integrated development programme of “Enhancing Human Resource for Growth and Development at community level in the Ho Diocese,” Right Reverend Francis Lodonu Bishop of the Diocese said at the presentation ceremony in Ho.

The beneficiaries were hairdressers, masons, seamstresses, tailors, bakers, carpenters photographers and soap-makers.

Bishop Lodonu said between 1,000 and 2,000 artisans were expected to benefit from the package through a revolving fund.

He said the programme was in conformity with the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of eradicating extreme poverty by 2015.

He therefore urged the beneficiaries to utilize the tools profitably to enable them to repay the cost involved so that others could also benefit.

That way they would by contributing to realizing the MDG on poverty by helping to eradicate poverty in their families and communities.

Madam Fidelia Aniewu on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the leadership of the diocese for the gesture.
