The New Patriotic Party in the Akyem Swedru Constituency have finally settle all differences within the party which forced Mr. Micheal Darkwah, a staunch member of the party to vie for the parliamentary seat of the constituency as an independent candidate.

The problem was settle by the NPP conflict resolution committee led by Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong, chairman of the Eastern Regional Council of Patrons and has Mr. Annan a former acting general secretary of the party as a member. After a lengthy discussion behind closed doors, Mr. Darkwah voluntarily resigned his decision of vying the seat as an independent candidate and declared support for the elected parliamentary candidate of the party in the constituency Mr. Robert Amoah.

Mr. Micheal Darkwah decided to contest the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate after what he and a section of some NPP activist describes as 'been sidelined' and so left the party. Mr Darkwa who hitherto was a constituency executive rallied behind the slogan 'Adidi Gya' and had the logo of a man eating a big bowl full of food with both hands. He even filed his posters and his 'adidi gya' T-shirts were scattered all over the constituency.

Briefing the media and a section of the party supporters, Mr. Paa Kofi Ansong, leader of the committee said, the committee were tasked to work in eight constituencies in the Eastern Region namely, the Kade Constituency, Lower West Akyem Constituency, Upper Manya Krobo Constituency, Ofoase/Ayirebi Constituency, Nkawkaw Constituency, Suhum Constituency, Ayensuano Constituency and the Akyem Swedru Constituency, however, the committee has been able to solve all those cases amicably. He then pleaded with all NPP members who are planning to go independent to do away with that idea. He said, 'Nana Addo has 23000 political appointments to make should he win the presidency and so becoming an mp should not be the prime aim of party functionaries but rather helping Nana win the presidency'. He therefore charged the leadership and the supporters of the party in the constituency to work hard to give nana addo a minimum of 75% of the total vote cast in this year's election.

Mr. Micheal Darkwa, then promised the delegation that he will work hard to help the NPP wrestle power from the NDC. He also pledged unflinching support for the NPP candidate in the constituency.

On his part, the constituency chairman of the party, Mr. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo said 'from today, the NPP does not recognize any independent candidate called Micheal Darkwa in the constituency again'. 'all constituency, branch, zonal or pollen station executive that resigned from their post or were suspended due to the case are with effect from today been reinstated' he added.

Meanwhile the regional secretary of the party Mr. Prince Aboagye has said that, Mr. Darkwa voluntarily decided to resign his decision after discussions with him without him taking even a pesewa.'
