Politicians must learn to accept defeat at elections-Apostle Buafor

Ho, July 07, GNA - Apostle Richard Buafor, General Overseer of the Lord's Pentecostal Church, on Saturday called on politicians to learn how to accept defeat and celebrate with winners of elections.

He made the call at the 41st Anniversary and Chapel Dedication of the Abundant Grace Chapel, Ho Central branch of the Church.

The event was on the theme; “Celebrating God's Goodness and Mercy.”

Apostle Buafor said acceptance of defeat and ensuring peace at elections were important signs of good leadership, which all leaders must possess.

“True and God fearing leaders will not fight over election results and cause confusion. This is what we want our leaders to demonstrate,” he said.

Apostle Buafor said there was a difference between voting and fighting and charged Christians eligible to vote not to engage in fighting during the December Polls.

Reverend Eric Otoo, General Secretary of the Lord's Pentecostal Church, in a sermon, called on the church to rise up to its role as the light of the world by ensuring that peace prevailed during and after the elections.

He said it was only the church that could solve certain societal challenges and urged church leadership to rise up to that task.

Rev. Otoo also urged the church to raise leaders that could help solve the problems of society as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

Apostle Godwin Kwasi Amedzro in charge of the Ho area branch of the church, said God has really been good to the church and commended the members for the support.

He said the chapel would be opened 24 hours to members.

Elder Francis Sogbe, who gave the history of the church, said it started from Apostle Amedzro's living room and moved to three other places before settling at its current premises.

He said it has over 600 members and eight branches in the Volta Region and Lome, Togo.
