MTN Ghana has launched a month long celebration in the Brong Ahafo Region dubbed 'Suncity Fest".
A statement from MTN said several activities have been scheduled to take place in the capital of Brong Ahafo, Sunyani, and other towns, including Kwame Danso in the Sene District and Techimantia.
General Manager of MTN Northern Business District, James Bukari Basintale, was quoted as saying 'Suncity Fest is part of MTN's strategy to engage subscribers and all other stakeholders of the business at the regional level to strengthen our existing relationship with them and also bring the brand closer to them.'
He said Suncity Fest is a replication of successful and enriching life engagements in the Ashanti and Western Regions known as 'Ashantifest' and 'Oilcity Fest' respectively.
Activities lined up for Suncity Fest include merchandising blitzes in Sunyani and its environs. The whole city of Sunyani will be branded with MTN paraphernalia while vendors of MTN products will receive new merchandizing materials including stickers, umbrellas and tables.
'These will be followed by the commissioning of two of the MTN Ghana Foundation projects in the Brong Ahafo Region - the projects include an ICT center for some basic schools in Techimantia and a thirty-bed male and female ward at the Sene Government Hospital at Kwame Danso in the Sene District,' the statement said.
It said separate fora for media persons and retailers of MTN products and services in the region will be held as part of Suncity Fest, and there would also be a health screening exercise, a seminar on investment by MTN's partner banks and training on basic accounting skills for the retailers to help them transition from basic retailers into successful entrepreneurs.
Other activities lined up for Suncity Fest include live band performances by Amakye Dede, Nana Tuffour, A.B Crentsil, Okyeame Kwame and other seasoned musicians in Ghana, a health walk and a community football gala.
