NDC UK/ IRELAND CHAPTER MARKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF FOUNDING OF THE PARTY.

The women's wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) UK/Ireland Chapter has led to organise a mini rally last Saturday, 30 June, 2012 to mark the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Party. The joyous gathering was attended by members from all the branches of the Chapter and other well-wishers and it was graced with the presence of HE Prof. Kwaku Danso-Boafo, the Ghana High Commissioner to the Court of St James.

Ms Mary Osabutey , the Women's Organiser of the Chapter in her welcome address for the celebration called for 'family action ' for unity in order to thrash our opponents during the December,2012 general elections .She urged all women to use their natural influence at home and in the community to promote peace and unity before, during and after the general elections.

HE Prof. Danso-Boafo addressed the occasion recounting the great successes of the Better Ghana Agenda in the past three and half years. He encouraged each and everyone present to become a mouthpiece of the Party and indicated that in politics, the cliché 'silence is golden' does not imply. He was of praise of the Mill's Administration for the effective and efficient management of the economy bringing inflation to about 8.8 percent. He mentioned that the recent foreign exchange blip is partly due to excess liquidity in the system relating to the implementation of Single Spine Salary Structure (S4 ). He explained that Former President Kuffour was advised in an IMF country report on Ghana in 2005 about unhealthy balance between Ghana wage bills and her gross domestic product( GDP) and he refused to implement the S4 during his eight-year so- called golden age of business. He ( President Kuffour ) would uncharitably assent to the implementation of the S4 on the very day he leaves office .But NDC as a caring and truthful government did not renege on her promises and obligation to give the dedicated working folks of the nation the deserving income .Members must therefore beat the drums of goodwill messages and deeds loud enough to bring home again massive victory, he opined.

Another speaker for the day was the Chairman of the Chapter, Mr Horace Nii Aryee Ankrah whose cardinal message was unity within the Party and also among the Ghanaian population in order to preserve our status as peace-loving people . Mr Ankrah asked all members to double efforts to mobilise others and also contribute in cash or kind for this year's electoral campaign.

The call for unity was further echoed by Comrade Alex Bediako , Acting Deputy Treasurer , who addressed the occasion on the founding principles of the Party of probity, transparency, accountability, integrity and which run with the motto of the nation; 'freedom and justice'. He traced these principles to that of the June 4th Revolution of about thirty-three years ago and reiterated their relevance in body politic and development of our dear nation, Ghana.

The programme was chaired by Mr Joe Gans-Lartey, a Legal Practitioner and former Vice Chairman of the Chapter. He remarked that membership of NDC is a calling for social justice, poverty reduction, peace and development. He called on members and people of such conviction to unite to work for the victory of the Congress in the forthcoming general elections in Ghana.
