Nkoranza (B/A), July 4, GNA – Fiagya Rural Bank at Busunya in Nkoranza North District has, within the past five years, supported 1,500 women in its operational areas.
The beneficiaries are located at Busunya, Nkoranza, Techiman, Afrancho and Sunyani.
Mr. Akwasi Owusu-Sekyere, Manager of the Bank, said this at a farmers' forum at Nkoranza to educate the farmers onprocedures for contracting loans from banks.
He said the bank did this as part of its social responsibility to assist and expressed concern about difficulties single mothers got through.
Mr. Owusu-Sekyere expressed appreciation to the government and some foreign donors in supporting farmers through a number of interventions and mentioned them as Community-Based Rural Development Project, Village Infrastructural Project and Food and Agricultural Budgetary Support.
He appealed to loan beneficiaries to pay back on schedule to enable them to enjoy more benefits and said defaulters could be disqualified from benefitting from future facilities.
