Apparently not happy with the rumours, Osabarima asked for the authencity of the rumours and asked those spreading the rumours to come to him and prove it. “Rawlings crossed it and became president. Bussia crossed it and also became a president so what are you talking about” he fumed. According to Osabarima, the rumours has no basis and it is just a deliberate attempt by some unscrupulous people to tarnish the image of the town. Osabarima added that this rumours which politicians have also paid heed to is negatively affecting the town in diverse ways and is also halting development in the town. He therefore pleaded with presidential candidates who are going round the country to reject this “baseless rumours” and come to the town for their political programs.

Its been rumoured that any presidential candidates that goes to Akwatia apparently crossing the stream that links Akyem Boadua to Akwatia loose the presidential slot. Osabarima was speaking at a ceremony held at Akwatia to inaugurate the newly created Denkyembour district. Osabarima also pleaded with the politicians to ensure peace in this year's general elections.

Mr. Baba Jamal Ahmed a deputy minister of finance and an NDC parliamentary candidate for the constituency as well as his counterpart in the NPP Dr. Kofi Asare all promised to ensure peace in the constituency before, during and after this years general elections.

The newly creted district “Denkyembour District was officially commissioned by Brig. Gen. Nunoo Mensah, the national security advisor.
