
Mobile Zone Ghana Limited, dealers in Techno phones and electronics have presented a mobile phone and a 32inches flat screen Techno television to the SWAG Sports Personality of the year, Ajara Mohammed as their appreciation for her efforts in projecting the image of Ghana sports.
Ajara Mohammed who won the prestigious award after beating two popular professional footballers, Andre Dede Ayew and Harrison Afful was also awarded with a cash prize of GH 1000.
According to Anass Saaka, head of Marketing and Retail Manager of the company, they were touched by the plight of Ajara and wanted to motivate her to do more than she is currently doing. He said the gesture is the beginning of greater things to come for Ghanaian sportsmen and women. He noted that Techno has very good and reliable products that are very ideal for the Ghanaian environment.
Owusu Sekyere a member of the Mobile Zone marketing team noted that Ajara Mohammed is a special athlete who needs encouragement to perform well at the upcoming Olympic Games in London and the prize should inspire her to go for the gold medals again.
The President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Ackah Anthony said SWAG welcomes corporate bodies to contribute to their efforts in rewarding the country's best sports people.
After the Mobile Zone presentation, the executives of SWAG led Ajara Mohammed and Patrick Obeng, the best male athlete of the year as well as Francis Adjetey Sowah, the Chairman of the year to the offices of MTN to show appreciation for the 37th awards which most people described as very successful.
Ajara Mohammed won two gold medals at the 2011 All Africa Games held in Maputo, Mozambique.
