8-year-old dead body missing at mortuary
22.06.2012 LISTEN

Family members of an eight-year-old boy are angry over the disappearance of the body of their beloved son, Kofi Tadini at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital mortuary.

According to the late Tadini's mother, Olivia Nyarkonwaa, her son left house on Sunday, December 4, 2011, as usual to play with his friends but he did not return until dusk, a situation which prompted her to search for him.

She, however, could not find him until one Mawuli, Tadini's friend came to report that he has been found dead inside the shop of one Mr. David Jabani and that Mr. Jabani allegedly begged him (Mawuli) to help in disposing the boy's body, but he refused to do so.

Mr. Jabani was said to have initially claimed not to have any knowledge about the where about of the boy when he was questioned by Madam Nyarkonwa.

The case was reported to the Mamprobi police, but to the utter dismay of the deceased's parents the police said the case had been earlier on reported to them by the same Mr. Jabani and that they were preparing to start investigations the following day.

The case was subsequently processed for court and resumes on June 26, 2012.

According to the parents, since the death of the boy, they have never set eyes on his body. They said after the post mortem was done at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, “A paper was issued to us that the cause of our son's death was electrocution.”

They said after two days of the deceased parents insistence to see the corpse; the mortuary authorities declared that the body was missing and that they had the right to bury any abandoned corpse after a certain period of time.

During a visit to the mortuary, authorities took the deceased's parents into the mortuary to confirm the disappearance of the corps. The parents are calling on the management of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital to intervene in the disappearance of the body of the late Kofi Tadini.
