3 savings group of the Jack-sally savings and loans association in Mognori a community in the west Gonja district has successfully ended a year cycle saving plan and have done the share out today.
Jack-sally is a Non- Governmental Organization that has an interest in women and children's welfare and poverty alleviation as their main mission. Hence has developed micro finance approach towards poverty alleviation in rural areas in Ghana.
The unique features of Jack-sally's micro finance and enterprise development programmes have been brought to light. Jack-sally has partnered Plan Ghana, which is affiliated to the international NGO Plan International. Jack-sally has directly reached out to 8,340 households.
The micro finance programme is also having a far-reaching impact at the grassroots.
At mognori 3 groups of 30 members each have benefited from Jack-sally's initiative.
Each was suppose to saved for period of one-year, after that shares the money gathered according to each others' contribution. In mognori today, one group had realize GH 4,884, Ghc5080, and Ghc 3463.
When the money was shared, the amount received by the participants was between Ghc 390 and Ghc 5.
The National Health Insurance Scheme staffs were also in the village to register new members and also to give opportunity to the others to renew their cards.
The founder Mr. Jeremiah Seidu has called on everybody in the district to get involved in the initiative in order to save for the future.
