Court remands two petty traders for stealing phones

Cape Coast, June 20, GNA – A Cape Coast Circuit Court on Tuesday remanded two men into police custody for allegedly stealing a Samsung and two Nokia phone worth GH¢ 600.00 belonging to one Madam Mary Monkah, a seamstress.

Appiah Kubi; 19, pleaded guilty, however Joseph Issah gave different ages, compelling the court to ascertain his true age.

The case was adjourned to June 26.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Christina Sampong told the court presided over by Mr Asare Nyarko that the two accused persons were petty traders who came from Accra to sell their products which include cosmetics.

She said at about 1500 hours on June 15 at Pedu a suburb of Cape Coast the complainant, Madam Mary Monkah and one Madam Rakia Kassim as well as her apprentice were busy sewing when the two accused person approached their shop to introduce their products to them.

She said Madam Mary and her colleagues did not show interest in the products so the accused persons left the shop after which the complainant could not find her phones and raised the alarm and the accused persons were chased.

Inspector Sampong said the two were apprehended at the solace junction and when searched, the Samsung mobile phone and two other phones were found on them so they were arrested and sent to the Central Regional Police Headquarters.
