THE COMBINED MILITARY AND POLICE FORCE AT THE WA CHIEFTAINCY ISSUE FAILED TO ARREST THE SUSPECTECD ASSASSIN IN BROAD DAY BUT ARRESTING INNOCENT CITIZENS

Some groups of persons from the Ghana Police Service, leaders of the ruling party, the military are bent on jeopardizing the absolute peace the people of Upper West enjoys over the period. They have taking an entrenched position into using all means available and unavailable to intimidate people from the royal gates in Wa just to ensure that they pursue their personal political agenda to the detriment of the entire population in the Region.

It will be recalled that, since 1998 till date these groups of persons and their cronies are aimed derailing and destroying the traditional lineage of the Wa area to the extent of distorting it just to medle in our chieftaincy inheritance. The KINGMAKERS in Wa over the period have always been the Busa Naa or Regent, The Kperisi Naa or Regent, The Sing Naa or Regent, The Guli Naa or Regent, the Froko, the Tendaana and the Yeri Naa with the senior most Prince being the convener of the meeting of Kingmakers( Nabikpong). We find to our utmost surprise and dismay some politicians, namely The Regional Chairman of our party Issahaque Malik, the constituency Chairman, Seidu Jamatutu, Seidu Braimah a council of state member, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu also a council of state member and Rahid Pelpuo Wa central MP clandestinely used the security apparartus in the Region to organize a kingmakers meeting without the the knowledge of the senior most Prince to nominate an NDC activist as Fongo Naa to replaced the late Naa Yakubu Soale who was fighting for the Vacant Wa Naa Seat. They were not begrudged by anyone but for the proper thing be done by the Royal gates to nominate a successor Wa naa was prevented by the powers that be.

The Tendaana in any of our traditional set up has the sole responsibility of performing sacrifices (pouring of libation and sacrificing animals to the gods of the land) and no one challenges that. They form part of the Electoral College but not the convener of meeting of kingmakers for Naa both in law and custom.

Indeed going forward Fusieni Pelpuo is a Prince and would have been a candidate for possible nomination among others at the properly constituted and organized kingmakers meeting but because of malice and out of political expedience he was empowered by the aforementioned NDC leaders in the Region to circumvent the tradition and get Fusieni as the sole candidate to be nominated as Fongu Naa but later to be sent to Wa Naa's Palace to occupy the vacant skin. These political gymics being played by Fuseini and his cronies later revealed that they are bent on using political power to occupy the Wa seat through the Window. This where we disagree with Fuseini and his cronies. As law abiding and peace citizens from the Wa area we took to the law courts for redress when other civil means of correcting the anomalies failed.

The court ruled in favor of Fuseini and his cronies but still not satisfied with court ruling with fresh evidence on the case and evidence under dealings, we filled a motion of appeal at the Supreme Court and it was granted and subsequently served to all parties involved in the case. In the light of this Fuseini forcefully moved with the support of combined military and police force and with the support of those in government to Wa Naa's Palace, which is under construction by the Museums and monument board and is yet to handed over to the proper custodians of the keys to the Palace from whom it was taken for Renovation works through the Municipal Assembly.

The second day after Fuseini came to the Palace, we were still attempting to slap a contempt of court on Him, when received an unfortunate incidence that, there was an assassination attempt on Fuseini in the midst of armed military and police personnel, consequently someone received the bullets and died later in the hospital. This lead to the burning of houses by Fusieni's children, mass beating of people and handing over to the police to the extent that one came back from his town and beating up by some irate youth from Fuseini's family beat him up to death infront of the police. Later in the day they were being lead by the police to arrest innocent persons from the Royal gates in Wa. It is more worrying to note that Pelpuo's family as the minority is seing under the cover of our party in power brutalizing and vandalizing their opponents in the face of the police. Nobody has been arrested from Pelpuo's Family after they took the law into their own hands to beat people and some had to die. We are now living in fear of being intimidated by the police and Pelpuo's minority group in Wa. They have unduly accused the three Royal gates of the shooting for that matter any vibrant youth is a potential suspect and that is unfortunate.

This was not enough; they went as far as Kumasi, the National house of chief's court premises with a civilian by name Salifu Jongare popularly ( known as number II) to arrest plaintiffs after the motion for leave to the supreme court was granted.

We condemn both actions unconditionally, but appeal to the security agencies to be professional in the discharge of their duties, devoid of bias. The IGP or the Regional police command failed to admit there was a security laps and that should be addressed first before arresting innocent citizens. The police report indicated that at broad day this assassin shot at the chief twice and was given a hot chase but was not arrested. You leave this person to go and you come back to arrest old men who cannot even walk properly.
