CPP WILL DEAL WITH CORRUPT OFFICIALS -Bright Akwetey

A leading member of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Bright Akwetey has sounded a note of caution to members of the ruling administration that, a new CPP government would not treat corrupt government officials with kids' gloves if it assumes the reigns of this nation, come 2013.

According to him, a CPP administration would ensure that law and order works in the country. “We shall also strengthen all the law enforcement agencies to make sure that there is complete adherent of law and order in the country.”

The defeated CPP presidential candidate said this when the party launched its 2012 manifesto at Agbogbloshie in Accra last Tuesday. It was under the theme: "Ghana Must Work Again...Yabre!"

Continuing, the legal practitioner warned that the CPP government would retrieve money and assets from all those who have stolen from the national coffers. He assured Ghanaians that, the assets of the nation would be shared equally regardless of ethnic, tribal or social backgrounds.

The Presidential candidate of the party, Dr. Abu Sakara who also buttressed the view of his former contender to the flagbearership position, noted that their administration will empower the citizenry to hold public officers accountable. “This is what we will do because we have strong legal team who will undertake this action”. This, he noted would be done in order to prevent wastage and save the country from borrowing.

He urged Ghanaians to put their act together and bring back the party from obscurity since it's the only party that can save the country.

He added it was unfortunate that after "our first ten years of nation building, nation wreckers prevented us from continuing with our good works. Since 1966, Ghana has been moving backwards instead of progressing and this would have to stop."

He continued that the party would bring about change to ensure that the economy grows from within and not from outside.

“The CPP government under my leadership would ensure that the state is accountable and provide the people with their basic needs.”

Prof. Akosa, a leading member of the party, said politics was about service but unfortunately, here in Ghana, politicians do not seem to seek the interest of the people," he said.

According to him, the CPP was a party which held the belief that being in power meant serving the people.

The 20 -page manifesto has three key areas; Social transformation, Sustainable economy and Social Justice.
