We the executives of the Social Democratic Alliance-Ghana (SODA), by this release wish to put out a strong disclaimer to a media report carried on Friday, the 8th of June, 2012 in which a faceless group had issued a statement using the above name to impugn the integrity of the NDC party, its leadership and government.

In pursuit of our resolve to strive for a decent society, we wish to emphatically declare that such individuals are not members of this organization and therefore have no locus to issue any statement under the name 'Social Democratic Alliance' (SODA). In view of this, we call on the media and the Ghanaian public to treat those imposters with the utmost contempt that they deserve.

It is significant to state that, the Social Democratic Alliance is a social organization, formed and duly registered with the Registrar General's Department in May, 2011 after several consultations and long years of deliberations. Its membership is made up of young graduates, intellectuals and technocrats who share in the common idea of social democracy as the best political ideology with the optimum panacea to the social, political and economic problems confronting most African countries, and for that matter Ghana. The group is therefore guided by the objectives of propagating the ideology in our democratic regime, and by extension, instilling its virtues in the conscience of the people of Ghana.

However, it is revealing to note that, our subsequent checks with the Registrar General disclosed that no similar organization had been registered with the department. For the purpose of clarification, we hereby wish to state and attach a copy of the certificate of incorporation and provide the relevant registration number as follows, 'CERT NO. G-36654 COI' for the whole world to ascertain the legitimacy of our claim.

In conclusion, we the executives, on behalf of the entire membership of SODA wish to disassociate ourselves from the said statement and further call on the plagiarizing group to desist from using our name, and render an unqualified apology before we contemplate on the next line of action.
