The planned possession by Togbui Gaabusu of the Gbi Traditional Council through the streets of Hohoe has been called off.
No reasons have been cited but Joy FM's Volta Region correspondent Agbeko Ben Coffie reported the decision was taken after a long Municipal Security Council meeting.
He said the Gbi Chiefs also had a meeting at the Private residence of Togbui Gaabusu before coming out with the decision.
He was expected to embark on the procession to ascertain the extent of damage in the area.
Earlier however, the Volta Regional Minister Henry Ford Kamel raised issues about the procession fearing it could spark violence in the area.
He promised to persuade the Gbi Traditional Council and Togbui Gaabusu from going ahead with the procession.
It is not clear if the Council's decision was as a result of the persuasion by the Minister.
Ben Coffie however reported the are is enjoying relative calm with the visible security presence.
