Akim Swedru E/R), June 15, GNA – Unemployed Adu Kwo has been sentenced to four years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a motor bike estimated at GH¢1,700.00, belonging to Mr Justice Anakwa, an Assembly Member for Akim Adjobue.
Kwo pleaded guilty to stealing when he appeared before the Akim Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kweku Appiah stated that at about 1730 hours on April 14, the Assembly member packed his motor bike, opposite his house to supervise an on-going project, and went back only to detect that it had been stolen.
Inspector Appiah said Mr Anakwa informed the people around about the theft.
The following day the people spotted Kwo on the bike at Akim Oda Nkwanta and when they confronted the convict, he managed to jump from the bike and took to his heels.
Inspector Appiah said on May 5, Mr Anakwa went to the police charge office and saw Kwo in police custody on a different case and was identified as the one who stole his bike.
