ACE HOLDS CONFERENCE ON KNUST TO TRAIN ENTREPRENEURS

The African collegiate entrepreneurs (ACE) are having a conference on KNUST campus to help produce world –class professionals and business people to operate productively and attain sustainable businesses in Africa.

The conference which commenced on Tuesday 22nd May, 2012 and ends on Friday 25th may is aimed at promoting, supporting and facilitating entrepreneurship programs beginning at the secondary level. They also seek to nurture talents, enhance entrepreneurship skills and to develop the potentials of exuberant and creative Africans.

Dr. Isaac Fordjour is the ACE coordinator in the United States of America. In an interview with Focus news, he stated that, “this conference should bring people together to talk about the practical aspects of how to start a business. Entrepreneurship is not just to listen to speeches and lectures but actually, the how to. The plan is to bring people together to help them focus on what they want to do, maybe to put a business plan together”.

He further added that, participants who show high sense of seriousness are given some financial assistance to start a business.

“if people are serious and they begin to make some progress, we can find them some funding. We even have people who have received some funding to start a business because it was such a great idea,” he added.

On his part, Franklin Owusu Karikari, the Curricular Facilitator and Administrator of the organisation, articulated that the conference has impacted enormously to his life ever since he joined.

“after my national service , my colleagues and I have not worked with any company. Right after my national service, my colleagues and I opened our own company because of the training we went through”.
