CityLink acquires new aircraft

In a move set to place it above other competitors, indigenous local carrier CityLink has acquired a new aircraft Fokker 100, to boost its local routes.

The Fokker 100, which arrived in Accra over the weekend, will ply the Accra-Kumasi, Accra-Takoradi routes,” company officials have said.

Plans are however far advanced to ready it for regional routes, which the company hopes to start in the coming months.

Officials of CityLink were on hand to welcome and inspect their newly-acquired facility from TradeAir, which by all standards, is unmatched by any other local carrier.

The Fokker 100 seats some 109 passengers, and it is the first of three new ranges the company intend to acquire, to boost their current fleet. The company currently has two aircrafts, making the Fokker 100 addition, a worthy investment.

Company officials have said the Fokker 100 will make two daily flights to Accra-Kumasi and Accra-Takoradi, but will be making regular flights in the coming months.

Recently taken over by a new management team, which has since put in place measures to make it the preferred domestic airline for customers, CityLink continues to be one of the fastest growing carriers in the Sub-Region.

The acquisition of the Fokker 100 comes at a time when most carriers are finding ways to remain relevant, and stay in business.

Started over two decades ago, CiTylinK operates scheduled flights for the public as well as charter flights for corporate clients within Ghana's major economic centres of Kumasi, Tamale, Sunyani, Takoradi and Accra.

The company has an impeccable safety record, which it has achieved through comprehensive personnel training, strict compliance to national and international airline safety standards, and well-maintained aircraft.
