The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Accra Catholic Diocese, Archbishop Charles Palmer Buckle, has expressed concern over the manner in which some individuals arrogate titles, biblical and non-biblical, onto themselves.

According to him, titles are for people who are chosen and called by the Lord Jesus Christ to perform certain assignments for the Kingdom God.

Citing the Bible, he said: 'It is Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour, who even today, calls anyone to be his follower, not the other way round. Secondly, Jesus calls for a special purpose to be 'fishers of men', as he did to Simon Peter and his companions.'

Archbishop Charles Palmer Buckle said these when he was addressing the 13 th Extraordinary Council Meeting of the Church of Pentecost under the theme 'Disciples to make others Disciples of Christ' at the Pentecost University College in Accra.

Touching on the upcoming general elections, the Metropolitan Archbishop, who was also the Special Guest of Honour for the occasion, urged Ghanaians to be politically tolerant and have confidence in the Electoral Commission (EC) to host the sixth elections in peace.

'In everything we do, we should stand for Ghana, and let us take it upon ourselves to be keepers of one anther for peace to prevail in our dear country,' he pleaded.

The Acting Chairman of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches and Overseer of Royal House Chapel, Rev. Sam Kuranchi Ankrah, indicated that Ghana had the majority of its population church goers, yet still, the country was battling with political, economic and social challenges.

He said if Christians and religious leaders are to live to the tasks, for which they had been assigned, the country would be a better place to live.

Rev. Sam Kuranchi Ankrah then applauded the Church of Pentecost for the numerous social and economic interventions for the development of the country, and appealed to them to use the resources available to the church to continue making a positive change in the life of Ghanaians, Africa, and the rest of the world.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, used the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to learn to respect the rule of law, exercise responsible behaviour and character, and discipline towards the elections.

'We can all testify that the Lord has been very gracious to Ghana as a country. We have had five elections in the Fourth Republic. Nevertheless, the recent registration exercise has shown that we could be vulnerable to violence, and it is the grace of God that has sustained us up to this time,' he said.

He further urged the youth especially, to keep away from unhealthy influences by politicians who would like to use them for their own selfish gains.

Apostle Dr. Onyinah called on the government, security agencies, EC and the judiciary to ensure that there was a level playing field for all political parties.

Additionally, he pleaded with the media to refrain from undue sensationalism and send accurate and correct reports to the general public.
