The New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has warned that Ghana's economy would totally collapse if the current administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not voted out in the December elections.
He said Ghanaians cannot survive for more years under the leadership of the NDC administration and it must therefore be shown the exit in the upcoming elections.
Dr, Bawumia noted that though the current administration had borrowed huge sums of money in three and half years than any government in the history of the nation, there was nothing to show for the colossal debt incurred.
Addressing teeming supporters of the NPP at the Kumasi Polytechnic last week Friday, the economic whiz kid noted that the NDC government had lost control of the economic battle, culminating in the untold hardships and poor living conditions being experienced by many Ghanaians.
He indicated that the deplorable situation had come about because the government had made it a trademark of doing propaganda rather than employing measures to improve the economy.
The former deputy Bank of Ghana Governor, whose recent attacks on the NDC government's economic policies generated an uproar, expressed regret that rather than addressing the issues he raised the NDC and its functionaries chose to launch attacks on his personality.
He said though he did not personally care about the wanton vilification, he was more concerned about the kind of society the NDC as a party was helping to create.
According to Dr. Bawumia, if the current economic trends are allowed to persist under the NDC, Ghana would no longer be an attractive place to live and do business.
He observed that the country had the potential to become the economic hub of West Africa, but would require prudent economic management, which is lacking under the current administration and promised that when the NPP is elected into power. Ghanaians would begin to enjoy good and favourable economic conditions.
“It is only the NPP that can transform Ghana from an economy of Woyomization to an economy of joblisation that every Ghanaian can feel and be proud of,” he observed.
The NPP running mate said corruption and indiscipline had become embedded in the society because of the poor leadership style of President Mills, and cautioned that the trend must not be allowed to continue if Ghanaians ever dream of enjoying better conditions of living.
Dr. Bawumia said he felt proud to be part of the NPP family and declared his readiness to put his economic expertise to help solve the challenges confronting the country.
