‘NDC Came To Rob Ghanaians’

The aspiring parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Mfantseman West, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) came to power to rob Ghanaians rather than develop the nation.

According to him, members of the NDC are only interested in acquiring property without making efforts to bring the economy back on track.

He stated that most appointees under the current administration were previously jobless, stressing that they have no idea as to how to boost the country's economy.

Asamoah Boateng, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman West, said this on Friday during the handing over ceremony of the Cape Coast Polytechnic (C-Poly) branch of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP in Cape Coast.

He added that the ministers and political appointees, who have never worked before, are taking advantage of their positions to steal the country's resources without considering the needs of the masses.

He therefore charged Ghanaians to vote out the NDC in this year's elections to safeguard the nation's resources, stating that the NPP intends to return to power.

He also urged the students to work hard to ensure that Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP secure enough votes in the polytechnic.

Over the past 55 years, the fate of Ghanaians have been entrusted into the hands of the Danquah-Domo tradition for less than a decade and it was during that short period that the nation recorded massive development, he observed.

Mr Asamoah Boateng further stated that the NPP is the only party that can bring prosperity to the nation.

He noted that the NPP does not belong to an individual who could mount tension and demand the logo or symbol of the party.

The NDC, he said, was basking in past glory, adding that President John Evans Atta Mills was relying on the bullying tactics which former President Jerry John Rawlings used in the past to manage the economy.

He alleged that the ruling government was planning to manipulate the census figures, citing the dismissal of former government statistician, Grace Bediako.

He commended TESCON for tremendously supporting the NPP in the past elections and charged the students to remain disciplined and avoid politics of insults in their campaign for the party.

'We need TESCON as an integral part of our campaign to enable us wins as a political party' he observed.

The past president of TESCON of C-Poly, Aliu Sumaila Abudu appealed to the party gurus in the region to support them in their activities in order to make the needed impact to ensure victory.

He noted that even though he assumed office when the NPP was in opposition, the team had been able to increase the number of TESCON members on the campus.

The past president however mentioned the lackadaisical attitude of students who fear intimidation as some challenges on campus, among others.

Present at the launch were the NPP parliamentary aspirant of Cape Coast, Alfred George Kojo Thompson, some constituency and regional executives of the party as well as lecturers of C-Poly.
