Celebrated Ghana and Hearts of Oak Coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has declared that he has missed the game that brought him so much fame.
He made an indelible mark on the soccer scene when he guided Accra Hearts of to lift the covetous CAF Champions League, Super Cup as well as the inaugural Confederation cup in 2000.
Attuquayefio qualified the Benin national soccer team (Squirrels) to its first Nations Cup and had stints with Liberty Professionals, Black Stars, Great Olympics as a player and a coach.
However, the iconic coach has been on the sidelines lately due to poor health, and in his emotional statement at the Media Centre of the Accra Stadium yesterday, he remarked, 'I have missed football, the fans and all the people associated with the game.'
A special match has been organized to honour him for his contribution to the global game and to him, the game will expedite his recovery process.
'I thank the organizers for putting this together. Although I am recovering, the game will give me the opportunity to see all those I have not seen for a while, and that will speed up my recovery process,' he managed to say.
The game has been is fixed for June 29, at the Accra Stadium at 5.30pm. Proceeds of the game will go to the coach, while the remaining will go to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital.
