On June 29, at 5.30pm at the Accra Stadium, both current and past members of the Black Stars will face friends of Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio in a special match.

The anticipated high-profile game, arranged by Primeval Consult, is in honour of the celebrated coach who has been out of action in recent years due to ill health.

Stirred by his exploits both as a player and a coach, the organizers partnered the country's football governing body- GFA-  and decided to give the only 'Sir' in Ghana soccer a befitting ceremonial game.

Part of the proceeds will go to Attuquayefio, with the rest going to the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the outfit taking care of the coach.

National Sports Authority's Director General Wolanyo Agra urged all to troop to the stadium on the day to honour the 2000 Champions League and Super Cup winning coach.

An emergency and executive committee member of the FA, George Afriyie, described Coach Attuquayefio as more than a coach, saying, 'He is more than just a coach. In fact, most of the FA's success stories could be linked to his influence.'

He gave the assurance of making everything possible by reaching most of the current Black Stars players to ensure a befitting ceremonial match, noting, 'This is the only way we can pay him back.'

Rates for the game will be released soon.
