Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), May 7, GNA -The Awutu-Senya Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday commended President John Evans Atta Mills for heeding their plea to split the District into two.
According to the Youth, the separation of the district would promote more socio-economic and political development in the two districts.
Mr Fillister Osardu, Secretary and Public Relation Officer of the Wing, made this known when he addressed over 400 supporters after two hours' peace march at Bawjiase.
He said the youth had realized that President Mills had achieved a lot in health, education, energy, water, sanitation and road construction in the Awutu Senya District.
Mr Osardu said the Youth have pledged to work harder for the NDC to win massively in the Awutu-Senya Constituency in both the Parliamentary and Presidential in the December general elections.
He said the MP, David Nana Larbi, had given scholarships to over 100 needy but brilliant students to continue their education in tertiary institutions and provided 5000 tables and chairs to basic schools.
Mr Abudulai Ismaila Andoh, Chairman of Awutu Bawjiase Area of NDC, said the peace walk was to show their appreciation to Electoral Commission and other political parties for a peaceful completion of biometric voter registration exercise.
