Five years for a mobile phone thief

Bibiani (WR), May 04, GNA –The Bibiani Circuit Court has sentence Kofi Sackey, 24, a labourer at Sefwi-Dwenase to five years imprisonment for stealing a G-tide mobile phone worth GHȼ100.

DSP Raymond Erzuah, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that the convict was seen around 12 noon on April 12, boarding a bus at Sefwi on that fateful day.

He said the convict's modus operandi was to quickly jump into offloading buses at the Sefwi bus terminal and boot away with anything that he finds.

The driver, Patrick Kwarteng through his vigilance saw the convict and alerted the pedestrians while Sackey took to his heels.

DSP Erzuah said he was later arrested and was arraigned before the Bibiani Circuit Court and charged with stealing.

He pleaded guilty and was thus sentenced according to his own plea to serve a five year sentence in hard labour.
