Ghana's General Elections in December will be the focus of workers when they commemorate international workers solidarity day on May 1.
The national parade will hold in Sunyani under the theme: Election 2012, the Role of the Worker in Securing Peaceful and Fair Elections.
In Kumasi, organized labour will route march from the Central Post Office and later converge at the Jubilee Park for a rally.
Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Trades Union Congress, Clement Kaba tells Luv Biz workers need a peaceful environment for economic productivity.
“We think that it's very necessary for us secure peaceful and fair elections. As workers we are stakeholders in this country and therefore the worker is key when it comes to nation building”, he stated.
Issues related to the implementation of the single spine salary structure have characterized the labour front in the past year.
Mr. Kaba observed not all workers are enthused at their migration to the new pay policy but he is satisfied with the process.
