Akyeremade raises GH¢16,800 for development projects

The people of Akyeremade in the Bekwai Municipality have raised GH¢16,800 towards development projects earmarked under its five-year development plan.

It came from GH¢400 yearly contributions by 42 families.

The people raised additional GH¢6,500 at the annual general meeting and fund raising ceremony recently, against GH¢15,400 raised last year.

The community has targeted to raise GH¢200,000 over a five-year period to fund the rehabilitation of the local Nursery and Kindergarten schools, the Community Centre and extension of electricity in the new area (New Site) of the town, a clinic, as well as construct a community football field which is almost complete, after about GH¢10,000 had been sunk into the project.

Coca-Cola, main sponsors of the Akyeremade Easter programme, since last year, has donated GH¢700 to the fund.

The Chief Executive Officer of Century Investments, producers of Century Sachet Water and a native of the community, Mr. Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, provided 20 electricity poles at a cost of GH¢15,000, as his personal contribution towards the development of the community.

Mr. Adu-Gyamfi, who is the Bekwai constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), appealed to the indigenes to contribute generously towards the socio-economic development of the community and its environs.

Mr. Ben Boachie Duah, Unit Committee Chairman, appealed to the Municipal Assembly to assist in the completion of the market and school projects initiated by the community.
