Accra, April 30, GNA – Maulvi Dr A. Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary-in-Charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, has slammed the rebellion against traditions, ethical standards, religious teachings and moral values.
This, he said was responsible for the dislocation of family life in the society.
“That is why any inclination towards permissiveness was condemned in Islam, because it leads ultimately to the destruction of family ties,” he noted.
He said Islam cherishes and zealously guards all fatherly, motherly, brotherly, sisterly and filial relationships upon which peace and development of present and future generations depend.
Maulvi Adam was addressing a congregation of the Ahmadiyya Muslims at the Annual Regional Conference of the Greater Accra Region in Accra, on the theme: “An Ahmadiya Family: A Model for Modern Society.”
He said any pleasure that was pursued at the cost of peace of mind and security was discouraged by Islam.
He said such tendencies, if unchecked, are likely to lead to the disintegration of family life and promote selfishness, irresponsibility, crime and violence.
“It takes an excellent relationship between husband and wife to ensure excellent upbringing of children,” he said.
Maulvi Adam noted that Islam lays a heavy responsibility on the shoulders of a husband, if his conduct was not conducive to the creation of an ideal atmosphere for a healthy family life.
“In Islam, family relationship is not limited to husband and wife alone, but it extends to the wider families to which both wife and husband belong. So the relationship should promote care, sympathy and respect to the elderly in both families such as grandfathers and grandmothers.”
He said Ghana had organised successfully five elections which have raised the democratic credentials of the country to a higher level in Africa and the world at large, adding, “I advised all Ghanaians to remain peacefully before, during and after the upcoming elections.
Alhaji Alhassan Ghansah, Regional President of the Mission said the a number of religious activities, including Tarbiyyat and Tabligh, have been organised in the region as well as camping for Tarbiyyat classes for the students who were on holidays.
