Neo-Rape Of Africa: Africa Actually Enriches Europe

Neo-Rape Of Africa: Africa Actually Enriches Europe

The Distorted Realities:

Europe needs Africa more than Africa needs Europe:

Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy:

Home truth is defined as an important truth, a key truth, a fundamental truth, a cardinal truth which is discomforting to acknowledge.

The title of this article is taken from a book by the Great African writer, Ngugi wa Thiongo in his book 'Politics of language in African literature, Decolonizing The Mind'. In this marvellous work, he drove home the unpalatable truth, a home truth that makes some on both sides of the divide uncomfortable, but truth is the truth. Truth does not change because it is uncomfortable. Truth is universal and no power in heaven, on earth, under the earth can change the truth.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the German poet, playwright said 'you don't need to travel around the world to understand that the sky is blue everywhere'.

In other words, you don't need to travel around the world to know that, the truth is the truth everywhere. But we are living in a world where the truth has been turned upside down; some of us refuse to accept this distortion of the truth. The reality is that without the benevolence of Africa and the massive contributions from Africans, Europe and America wouldn't be where they are today.

The truth must be told and Africans must begin to stand up for the truth. For far too long, Africans have allowed themselves to be bamboozled with spurious western tales.

More often than not, we have been told that without European and American charity, (via IMF/World Bank and the other nefarious western institutions) Africa and Africans everywhere will cease to exist. The opposite is rather true. It is about time Africans free their minds from these distortions and uphold the truth.

George Orwell also gave us deep insight into Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy with his famous quote: “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength” .The Western system has twisted and slanted human issues to the extent that, it is almost impossible to differentiate the truth from the falsehood when they are speaking. In the age of slavery, they brutalized societies in the name of bringing Christianity and Civilization and Commerce to uncivilized societies. They twisted the Bible and turned its meaning upside down in their slavery and cultural obliteration project. They preached dispossession instead of possession.

The modern examples of delivering democracy through NATO/AFRICOM bombs are just continuation of the Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy which George Orwell eloquently stated. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya are our examples where “freedom and democracy” were delivered through fabrications and bombs.

With this Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy, they have succeeded in creating a Dependency Syndrome in Africa, where the African minds have been conditioned to rely on western charity for survival, instead of Africans developing a sustainable, Self-empowering, Self-reliance and Self-sufficiency societies.

Mass Production of Ignorance:

In his powerful book, “Web of Deceit Britain's Real Role in the World”, Mark Curtis exposed Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy by stating in the section "The Mass Production of Ignorance" and I quote “The liberal intelligentsia in Britain is in my view guilty of helping to weave a collective web of deceit. To read many mainstream commentators' writings on Britain's role in the world is to enter a surreal, Kafkaesque world where the reality is often the direct opposite of what is contended and where the startling assumptions are frighteningly supportive of state power."

Replace Britain with Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy and you have a perfect picture of how the West had operated since eons. That is, twisting facts, using a huge network of deceit in mass producing an ignorant, robot-like human race. Let things be straighten up for once.

A Cultural and Psychological Crisis:

In his work 'How Europe Underdeveloped Africa' Walter Rodney captured the European psychosis unambiguously, clearly to be understood by the both the learned and unlearned. I wish this book is made available to every African. I, the writer of this article had come under serious attacks and harassment since I started writing and speaking on the theme of “African Capability”. Sadly, these attacks and harassments have come from Africans who doubt their own abilities and condemn themselves to the state of perpetual servitude and incapability. Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy has succeeded in placing limitations on the African capacity. So far as Africa is hooked to the Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy, it is impossible for Africa to develop and break forth from the self-imposed misery and underdevelopment. Western Topsy-Turvy relationship with Africa is mainly to slant the facts in order to justify the siphoning of wealth from Africa to enrich Europe.

What we need now is an information mechanism to counter the Western Topsy-Turvy Philosophy's deadly indoctrinations.

“The interpretation that underdevelopment is somehow ordained by God is emphasized because of the racist trend in European scholarship. It is in line with racist prejudice to say openly or to imply that their countries are more developed because their people are innately superior, and that the responsibility for the economic backwardness of Africa lies in the generic backwardness of the race of black Africans. An even bigger problem is that the people of Africa and other parts of the colonized world have gone through a cultural and psychological crisis and have accepted at least partially the European version of things. That means that the African himself has doubts about his capacity to transform and develop his natural environment. With such doubts, he even challenges those of his brothers who say that Africa can and will develop through the efforts of its own people. Walter Rodney

Distorted Realities:

Ngugi wa Thiongo nailed the issue down beautifully:

“The very fact that what common sense dictates in the literary practice in the literary practice of other cultures is being questioned in an African writer is a measure of how far imperialism has distorted the view of African realities.”

“Africa actually enriches Europe: but Africa is made to believe that it needs Europe to rescue it from poverty. Africa's natural and human resources continue to develop Europe and America: but Africa is made to feel grateful for aid from the same quarters that still sit on the back of the continent. Africa even produces intellectuals who now rationalize this upside-down way of looking at Africa.”

“We who went through the school system were meant to graduate with a hatred of the people and the culture and the values of the language of our daily humiliation and punishment”

The Rape of Africa: Setting the Records Straight

1) Africa never coveted European resources or natural wealth because we have enough, satisfied with what God has given us and not so acquisitive like Europeans. Europeans wish they have all of Africa, while Africans have zilch.

2) Today thousands of European firms are operating and making huge profits in Africa sustaining the European social economy and basically destroying the African environment.

3) Africans never met in darkness to plan the plunder of Europeans.

4) There is absolutely NO African multinationals stealing from Europe and under-developing Europe like Europeans are doing in Africa.

5) Europeans still meet daily in darkness just as they did in Berlin in 1884 with the African map before them planning how to rob Africa of her God-given wealth.

6) European ownership of African human and natural resources still dominate the African landscape.

7) Africans are often accused of being “economic refugees” escaping poor Africa in such of greener pastures in Europe and America, when in fact, they are just following and seeking ways to retrieve some of their stolen treasures.

2010 SA World Cup and the Customary Rip-Off

Nowhere is this African great contribution to global prosperity is manifested than what happened during the 2010 South African World Cup. Prior to the competition, there was this massive media campaign that the choice of South Africa for this global show was a recipe for disaster. The opposite became the truth at the end of the show. 2010 South African World Cup was the most successful financially, in the history of the World Cup. It garnered double what was previously recorded in the economically rich Germany.

Sadly, South Africa and Africa benefited little from the huge profits. Today, FIFA is financially sound due to what they got from AFRICA. The customary rip-off of Africa continued during the World Cup.

**FIFA has confirmed they made $3.655 billion from the World Cup in South Africa, after the organization announced buoyant financial figures between 2007 and 2010.

**"I am the happiest man to announce that the World Cup in South Africa was a huge, huge financial success for everybody -- for Africa for South Africa, for FIFA," Blatter told reporters after a meeting of the executive committee of football's world governing body in Zurich on Thursday.

**”For the first time in FIFA's four-year accounts we are over four billion dollars," the Swiss added.

**FIFA President Sepp Blatter revealed on Wednesday at the 33rd Assembly of the Confederation of African Football held in Khartoum, Sudan that the world's football governing body netted $1.2 billion from the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa, doubling the spoils from Germany 2006, AP said.

**“There was better news from 2010 as FIFA had realized $1.2 billion after the World Cup in South Africa compared to $600 million realized after Germany 2006 World Cup,” Blatter said.

**He let slip the number as a little teaser for FIFA's annual report, to be released next week, and bragged that the pile of cash would tide them over for 18 months.

**“The Federations and associations will benefit from this windfall, this again is victory for Africa,” Blatter added.

**“This financial success is perhaps not the most important. The World Cup has restored pride to a whole continent sometimes abused, heckled and even vilified. Everybody is happy about this great success that has sent another message from Africa to the world. It is the victory of South Africa; it is the victory of Africa. Henceforth, Africa will be seen in a new image,” he concluded.

Africa is Our Future – Nicolas Sarkozy:
Addressing 30 African Heads of State attending the 25th France-Africa Summit, on 31 May 2010 in Nice, France, French President Nicholas Sarkozy said that Europe and Africa were inextricably linked and highlighted the indispensability of Africa in resolving the major issues currently affecting the world.

“Africa is our future. For a long time on the periphery, the African continent is asserting itself more and more as a major player in international life… France and Europe need Africa as much as Africa needs Europe and France.”

The Obvious Answer - Gordon Brown:
In a speech delivered to African leaders, in Kampala in Uganda on July 24th, 2010, former UK Prime Minister made these startling revelations and confirmed what some of us have regarded as the eternal truth: Without Africa, there would be no Europe and global growth.

“Some people will say these balances are inevitable, that the world is out of kilter and there's simply nothing you can do.

But I believe there is an alternative. An alternative to what is now called the new normalcy in the global economy of low growth, high unemployment and instability on the one hand, high levels of absolute poverty and the waste of human lives in Africa on the other. There is an alternative to a decade of low global growth which would fail to meet both the development needs of Africa and the growth needs of Europe and America. To me the answer is obvious: as we struggle to find new sources of growth we must turn here, to Africa, to this continent of huge potential and talent.

There is an alternative - it is an alternative where Africa grows, thrives, and contributes not only to her own development, but to world recovery. That is the alternative - but it is a possibility rather than a probability.

Cowed Africa and Sheepish Leadership

It was after these meeting that the NATO/AFRICOM murdering mechanism was set in motion to clear the major impediment to western imprudence, Gaddafi. With Gaddafi out of the picture, the stage was set for the West to once again embark on the reckless plunder Africa to feed its voracious appetite. Africa can forget the current feckless leaders. With Gaddafi gone, in the words of President Mugabe “the current crop of leaders was quite different from revolutionaries who fought for Africa's independence. “You go and kneel before Sarkozy, you go and kneel before David Cameron, kneel before Obama and say yes we shall do all you want us to do.

“All these leaders, and when you are kneeling, you are making your nation kneel before these young imperialists.” President Mugabe said Africa was going through its worst period ever. “Not only have they become cowards, but have become sellouts of our own people. Betraying, betraying the nations of Africa.”

Africa simply needs the Nkrumah type and a new generation of Revolutionary leadership to reverse the current western distortions. Today, Africa is reeling under Western Economic Dictatorship and massive dose of historical distortions.

OUR SUPREME CASE AS EXPRESSED BY KWAME NKRUMAH

“Until the independent States of Africa were united in a single nation, the exploitation of Africa by Europe will never end”

“Although most Africans are poor, our continent is potentially extremely rich. Our mineral resources, which are being exploited with foreign capital only to enrich foreign investors, range from gold and diamonds to uranium and petroleum. Our forests contain some of the finest woods to be grown anywhere. Our cash crops include cocoa, coffee, rubber, tobacco and cotton. As for power, which is an important factor in any economic development, Africa contains over 40% of the potential water power of the world, as compared with about 10% in Europe and 13% in North America. Yet so far, less than 1% has been developed. This is one of the reasons why we have in Africa the paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty, and scarcity in the midst of abundance.

Never before have a people had within their grasp so great an opportunity for developing a continent endowed with so much wealth. Individually, the independent states of Africa, some of them potentially rich, others poor, can do little for their people. Together, by mutual help, they can achieve much. But the economic development of the continent must be planned and pursued as a whole. A loose confederation designed only for economic co-operation would not provide the necessary unity of purpose. Only a strong political union can bring about full and effective development of our natural resources for the benefit of our people.”

The evidence that Africa throughout history had built, sustained and provided the impetus for western development is overwhelming. Let us not allow them to continue with the twisting, enough already. Most Africans have been conditioned to accept these distorted realities.

Let us reject the arrogance and ignorance of the West. Without Africa, there will be no Europe or America. We must surely get rid of this unholy falsehood, which has been deeply implanted in the inner recesses of our brains; that Africa's survival depends on Western benevolence. Pan-African ideas should be forcefully expressed to correct the distortions of the Western Topsy-Turvy philosophy and overthrow this dangerously entrenched belief system. Only the undiluted truth shall set Africa and Africans free. The West is once again in an all out plunder of Africa, with the tacit and active collaboration of the African elite.

“We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind. Mind is your only ruler, sovereign. The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind”
