NDC will not tolerate intemperate language by its member - Mahama

Kumasi, April 23, GNA - Vice President John Dramani Mahama has said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not tolerate intemperate and vulgar language by any of its members.

He said there is the need to ensure some level of sanity in the political discourse to avoid needless tension.

He rallied the nation to denounce inflammatory pronouncements, likely to create division and divide the people.

Vice President Mahama was addressing a forum organized by the Ashanti Chapter of the Tertiary Education Network (TEIN), the student wing of the NDC, at the Engineering Auditorium of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

“Victory 2012, the role of TEIN” was the theme.
He gave high marks to the NDC government for the good job done under its watch and appealed to Ghanaians to renew its mandate.

The Vice President repeated their determination to establish 200 new community Senior High Schools (SHS) from 2013-2015.

He said they would provide the needed infrastructure to promote access to SHS education and make the school environment academic friendly.

Plans are far advanced for construction works to start on the school projects, he added.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, asked religious and civil society organizations that are supposed to be politically neutral to remain as such.

The media should also be more circumspect in their reportage and maintain high standards of professionalism.

Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, commended members of the TEIN for the significant role they have been playing to broaden the party's support base.

He urged the members to visit, particularly the rural communities, to tell the success story of the government.
