NGO fetes KATH patients

By Ghanaian Chronicle

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mama Ellen Foundation, a locally based Non-Governmental Organisation, Mrs. Ellen Semenyo, has called on philanthropists and corporate bodies to support the management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to enable it deliver quality healthcare to patients.

She noted that the management of the hospital needed the support of society to be able to overcome the immense challenges facing it, in order to ensure quality delivery of healthcare to the people.

Mrs. Semenyo made the appeal when her outfit, together with the crew of the 'Mmaa Formular' Show aired on Multi TV and the Nhyira FM, feted and donated some items to patients at the Children's Ward of the hospital last week, as part of activities marking this year's Easter celebration.

About 500 children at the Mother and Baby Unit, Wards B3, B4, C3 and C4, were treated to sumptuous food and drinks, also given ward gowns and sandals.

Mrs. Semenyo further noted that the occasion also marked the Foundation's series of programmes organised to create awareness on the dangers of glaucoma, a deadly eye disease, which is prevalent in the country.

She said children who are receiving medical care required special love and care, stressing that they needed to be given the necessary attention to enable them respond to treatment.

The founder of the Foundation disclosed that it was against this backdrop that her NGO had consistently made it an objective to assist young patients, particularly vulnerable ones, in the hospital.
