Betty breaks ground for construction of Ejuratia SHS

THE FORMER Minister of Education, Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, has broken the ground for the commencement of work on a Senior High School at Ejuratia in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region.

The project, which will comprise the construction of a 6-unit classroom block with office and library at the cost of GH¢450,000, will be completed by September this year.

She said the school will serve the people of Ejuratia, Mpobi and Ankaase, as there is not even one Senior High school in the area, a situation which compels children to travel a long distance to access Senior High School education at one of the only two SHS in the district.

Mrs. Betty Iddrisu appealed to parents to prioritize the education of their wards, especially, the girl child, since it was best legacy or investment to secure a better future for the child.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre, Mr. Kaakyere Oppong Kyekyeku, commended the former Education Minister for her tremendous efforts at raising the living standards of the people in the area, through health and educational programmes.

He noted that the school would serve as a big relief to the people of the area and generations to come.

He revealed that the Afigya Kwabre District, which has two constituencies, can boast of only two senior high schools, whose facilities are mostly over-stretched, regarding admission of new students, for which reason the new Ajuratia School would serve the right purpose.

Mr. Ignatius M. Der, District Education Director, who described the former Minister as a development-oriented woman, also commended her for passion for bettering education in the area, and urged her to continue the good job she was doing for the people to benefit including the entire country.

Meanwhile, the former Minister has also cut the sod for the commencement of a new market for the people of Ejuratia.

The market project would relieve market women who normally sit in the scotching sun to sell their wares.
