The Asokwa Police in Kumasi have begun investigations into how two kids allegedly got trapped in a parked vehicle belonging to a Laboratory Technician, leading to their eventual death at Kotwi, a few kilometers from Kumasi.
The bodies of the two kids, whose names have been given only as Emmanuel, 10, and his sister, Akosua, 2, were strangely discovered in the vehicle, which was parked within the premises of the Donnagibb Hospital, a private medical facility, where the owner of the vehicle works as a Laboratory Technician.
They were alleged to have suffocated to death, though it has not been medically confirmed, as an autopsy is yet to be performed on them.
The vehicle owner, identified as Ababio, shockingly discovered the bodies of the kids lying in his car around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday evening, when he had closed from work, and was about to drive off to the house.
Eyewitness say it took a lot of time for rescuers to open the doors of the car, which had been put under automatic locks, though the kids were already dead before the doors could be forced open.
The incident has sent shivers down the spines of neighbours around, as tongues are wagging as to how the kids got into a locked vehicle which was parked within the premises of the hospital.
The police are being taciturn with information, but reports gathered by The Chronicle, indicate that father of the deceased children works as a security officer in the hospital, whilst the mother also sells provisions in the area.
The kids, according to information, usually visit their parents at the hospital, and wait until night falls before they all leave for the house.
But, on Saturday, when Ababio had closed from work, he went to the garage to pick his car, only to discover the bodies of the two kids lying dead without any bruises on them.
The two bodies have since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), but no arrest had been made at a time of filing this story, as the police said investigations were still ongoing.
It is, however, suspected that the kids may have suffocated to death, a phenomenon called Asphyxia Ababio, as the owner of the car may have unintentionally forgotten to lock the doors of the vehicle after parking it, making it probable possible for the kids to enter.
But, the police have refused to conjecture or suspect any foul play, stating that they would want to conduct thorough investigations before making an official statement on the incident.
