The Police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) has begun a new campaign aimed at reducing the incidence of road accidents in the country during the Easter holidays.

The MTTU is liaising with an occupational health and safety firm, Fame Safety Consult to carry out the accident-free Easter campaign.

Speaking at a ceremony to kick-start the campaign, the Managing Director of Fame Safety Consult, Famous Kwesi Kuadugah said the high rate at which lives are being lost to road accidents necessitated the campaign and called for attitudinal change among drivers.

MTTU Commander, ACP Agwunbutoge Awuni called on Ghanaians to embrace the various road safety campaigns ongoing in the country.

According to him, in an effort to curb the trend, officers from his outfit have already been dispatched to various accident prone routes in the country.

He cautioned vehicle owners not to concern themselves only with the profit they will make during the holidays but should also be concerned about maintaining their vehicles.

The campaign includes the distribution of stickers on road safety to the general public.
