NDC goofed in revocation of Kofi Adams' membership - NDC Lawyer

A member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has told Citi News the party goofed in its revocation of the membership of Mr. Kofi Adams, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC.

He said: 'That for me is a goof because if his membership is revoked, for me it means that he is no more a member of the party and on what basis is he going to appear before the [disciplinary] committee. I think the word there is suspended it's not revoked.'

'I find it difficult to understand the part that talks about revocation. I think that what the party constitution talks about is suspension and the suspension could be suspension from being a member of the party or suspension if you're an executive,' Mr. Amaliba noted.

'So the suspension is what is used to refer to a member or an executive who has misconducted himself, but to revoke is too strong a word which means that you have been expelled and I don't think that the constitution talks about that.'

Mr. Amaliba's comments come on the back of the 'suspension and revocation' letter sent to Mr. Adams by the party executives suspending him as a member of the NDC.

Mr. Adams, who is the spokesperson for the Rawlingses, has been in the media lately over an alleged tape on which he [Adams] is said to be plotting to ensure that President John Mills does not win the 2012 elections.

The matter has been referred to the disciplinary committee of the NDC for investigation for, which an outcome would determine the fate of Mr. Adams in the party.
