THE DEPUTY Propaganda secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase Constituency in Ashanti, Mr. Yakubu Adamu alias Tony Aidoo, has given a one month ultimatum to the NDC and the government to take immediate steps to resolve the differences between the Rawlingses and the government and the party.

He said at a press conference in Kumasi that the N DC National Executives and all the functionary executives of the party at all levels as well as the leadership of the ruling government should resolve the impasse by reviewing the circumstances before, during and after the Sunyani Congress.

According to Tony Aidoo concerned party members and sympathizers intend to organize a nationwide demonstration against the leadership if their concerns are not addressed.

The propaganda secretary noted that it will be a disaster for the party if the situation remains unresolved and which situation was likely to affect for the fortunes of the party in the upcoming general elections.

Tony Aidoo described as unfortunate the situation where the leadership of the party claimed there was no problem between the founder and the party and yet there is a rift culminating in the absence of the Rawlings at the party's recent rally in Accra.

“We are now convinced that there is a problem and the early it is resolve the better. We are yearning to see the Rawlingses who the party cannot do away with as a party”, he stressed.

According to him the last ( Saturday's) rally was an opportunity to raise the moral of supporters of the party as we are heading towards the general elections but that was not the case with the absence of the Rawlingses.

He has therefore charged the leadership of the party, especially the National Executives to wake up from their slumber and act to save the party from going to opposition.

He also appealed to the Rawlingses to forgive and forget and avail himself to find lasting solution to their differences and help the party retain power.

Referring to the circumstance in which Mr. Rawlings introduced Prof. J. E. A. Mills at the famous Swedru Declaration, Tony Aidoo said God and followers of the party will not forgive the Rawlings if the party goes to opposition or lose the elections.

He wondered why Prof. Mills said to be a good candidate then to be voted for is being despised by the founder to the extent of opposing him at this crucial time when the party needs a strong united front to retain power . “Was Mr. Rawlings deceiving us at the beginning?” he asked.

The concerned party activist said it is time the Rawlingses and the leadership advice themselves and come together and address their differences as members of one political party as the congress is over is underscored.
