Half Assini, (W/R) March 21, GNA - The Electoral Commission of the Jomoro District (EC) says it has taken delivery of the most important equipment and materials for the smooth take off of the Biometric Voter Registration exercise on Saturday, March 24.
The District Electoral Officer, Mr Kwabena Asante, who made this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini, said series of programmes in preparation for the exercise had almost been completed.
He mentioned the training of registration officials, series of dialogues and the practical demonstration of the biometric voter registration, as part of the preparation.
Kits, generators and other materials, he said, had been taken from the EC's Regional headquarters at Sekondi to the Half Assini District Office of the Commission.
Mr Asante said 252 data Entry Clerks, Registration Officers and their Assistants and those on special duties had been trained.
They are mostly unemployed graduates and Senior Secondary leavers.
He said the Commission would organised a two-day dialogue practical demonstration on the Biometric Voter Registration for political party representatives, heads of Departments and Civil Society groups on March 21 and March 22.
Mr Asante, therefore, appealed to the people to turn out in their numbers to register to enable them to take part the December 7 general election.
