Komenda, the hometown of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) in the Central region, Dr Joseph Samuel Annan, was a no-go area for members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday when thousands of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters as well as residents came out in their numbers to welcome the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo and his entourage.

Nana Addo was in the region as part of his three-day tour themed, 'Restoring Hope.'

The tour gave him the opportunity to interact with some fishermen along the coastal areas including Elmina, Brenu Akyinemu and Apennine.

Nana, who was clad in white top and black jeans, was flanked by party gurus such as Boakye Agyarko, Campaign Manager, Lord Commey, Campaign Director, Kwamena Bartels, former Minister of the Interior, Regional and constituency executives of the party, aspiring Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Nana Ato Arthur, former MPs as well as former District Chief Executives (DCEs) in the region.

Most of the people, who could not hide their joy about the visit of the flagbearer, had no option but to come out from their kiosks and stores to dance to the tunes of brace band music.

His presence in Komenda created artificial human and vehicular traffic since many people wanted to shake him.

The flagbearer, upon his arrival, paid a courtesy call on the paramount chief of the area, Nana Koru II to seek ancestral support.

He appealed to the chiefs of the Traditional Council to support him with prayers.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd at Komenda, Nana Addo underscored the need for Ghanaians to vote for him in the upcoming elections to enable him to put critics to shame by providing the free Senior High School Education Programme.

'If God willing I become the president, I will fulfill all promises made to you, I will not come and stand before you and make big promises I cannot fulfill, while teachers will also be motivated to enable them teach well,' he said.

'I never entered into politics because of money but to serve my people. I am a professional lawyer and I can sit in my chamber to make money if I want to,' he added.

He asked politicians- MPs, DCEs and party gurus, to stay away from the distribution of premix fuel.

Nana Addo lambasted NDC for astronomically increasing the price of fishing equipment, which had led to the collapse of the fishing industry.

'Mills government has been increasing everything double double,' he stated

The aspiring NPP MP for the area, Dr Nana Ato Arthur wondered why National Democratic Congress (NDC) government had turned fishermen into armed robbers in the country.

He bemoaned the use of the Navy by NDC to chase fishermen along some coastal areas in order to prevent them from using light to fish.

He said the poor fishermen are currently being treated like armed robbers in their own country while they are physically abused at the slightest chance.

Dr Nana Arthur, the former Central Regional Minister, criticized the MP for the area, Dr Joseph Annan for totally neglecting fishermen, adding that the NPP government, led by Nana Addo, would protect fishermen at all cost.

The former minister was impressed with the huge crowd that thronged the rally grounds, adding, 'I can feel the victory ahead of us since people do not attend our rallies previously in this town because the MP, Dr J.S Annan hails from this place,' he said.

Meanwhile, investigations conducted by  DAILY GUIDE  after Nana Addo's tour indicate that the NPP would win all the seats held by the NDC in the coastal belt due to the hardship fishermen are currently going through under the administration.

The seats include KEEA, Agona East and West, Mfantseman East and West, Efutu and Awutu Senya.

Fishermen, who were given the opportunity to speak, lambasted the NDC government and promised to vote them out of office.

Some of them openly declare their intention to campaign massively for the NPP.
