Koforidua, March 18, GNA - A one-day seminar to empower the youth on job acquisition and entrepreneurship was held in Koforidua on Friday.

The seminar focused on good curriculum vitae (CV) writing, interviewing skills, presentation and processes, and methods of entrepreneurship to give participants insight into the job market and what employers really wanted in employing young graduates.

Human Resource Mangers from organizations such as Nestle Ghana Limited and Cocoa Board made presentations on good application skills and CV that appealed to their organizations for employment opportunities.

The Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), in collaboration with Youth Challenge International (YCI), a Canadian Youth-based volunteering organization, organized the programme for students from the All Nations University College, Koforidua Polytechnic and the Government Secretarial School.

Mr Frederick Dadzie, the Program Manager of the YCI, in an interview with GNA said the programme was aimed at helping to reduce youth unemployment, which had become a big socio-economic challenge in the country.

According to him, the YCL had been receiving many applications that showed nothing of applicants' knowledge of what they could do when employed.

Mr Daniel Ofosu, The Regional Secretary of the YMCA, said over the years, the two organizations had collaborated to empower the youth for the job market, and hoped that the seminar would open job avenues for the youth.

Participants told GNA that the seminar had created linkages for them and the resource persons, and hoped that it would help them acquire jobs.
