Former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings is accusing the National Democratic Congress of rigging the party's congress which re-elected president John Mills as flagbearer for the 2012 elections.
Mrs Rawlings polled 90 votes representing 3.01 per cent of the total votes cast whilst, the sitting president polled 2771 votes, representing 96.09 per cent.
But speaking to students of the Akuafo Hall Ladies wing, Saturday, months after the contest, Mrs Rawlings attributed her embarrassing defeat to rigging by party officials.
According to her, party officials conspired to have unregistered delegates vote for her challenger, President Mills.
“Even though we went to Sunyani, I didn't want to break up the party so there a lot of things I kept quiet about.
“People who were not delegates were voting as delegates and I know all the delegates.
“More than a thousand or something were not delegates. They voted so I let it be because if I want to deal with it means I should take the whole bunch to court.
“But I just decided no it's not worth it. Let them steal it. If that makes them happy, let them steal it.
“But in my heart of hearts I feel sorry for the party I belong to because it was like cracking the party in the middle and for it was sad,” Mrs Rawlings said.
Her meeting with the Akuafo Hall ladies coincided with the NDC Greater Accra Region rally, Saturday- a rally the Rawlingses failed to attend.
