Koku Anyidoho admits prices of goods have gone up

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho has admitted that prices of goods and services have gone up in the country but this notwithstanding; Ghanaians still love their president and government.

Koku Anyidoho noted that the NDC government has not made Ghana heaven on earth, but a lot is being done to better the lives of Ghanaians in fulfillment of President Mills' Better Ghana Agenda adding that the President has the interest of Ghanaians at heart and will not do anything to hurt the people.

The Communications Director at the Castle said this in an interview on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem on Wednesday following President Mills' visit to some markets in Accra on Tuesday.

President Mills interacted with market women at Nima, Maamobi and

Mallam-Atta markets to ascertain prices of goods in including that of kenkey.

Prior to the President's visit, media reports quoting NPP Communications Director Nana Akomea had pegged the price of a ball of Kenkey at GH¢ 1. President Mills however bought a ball of kenkey at the Nima market for GHp 50.

As is to be expected, President Mills' action has received mixed reviews with some NPP supporters accusing him of engaging in 'kenkey politics.'

Koku Anyidoho however refuted that claim and explained that it is not strange for President Mills to visit a market, because in the run up to the 2008 elections, he embarked on campaigns at lorry parks, markets and even went on house to house and door to door calls.

Meanwhile, NPP Communications Director, Nana Akomea has denied that he unilaterally pegged the price of a ball of kenkey at GHC.1.

The Okaikoi South MP said he based his comments on a survey conducted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and which was reviewed on state broadcaster, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

According to the survey, a ball of kenkey was being sold in areas like Abeka, Tema and Nungua at GHC. 1.

He also stated that it is not true that President Mills empathizes with Ghanaians, and questioned why President Mills allowed or oversaw the payment of GH¢ 52 million as judgment debt to NDC financier Alfred Agbesi Woyome if he really cared about Ghanaians.

The MP noted that what matters most is how to meet the needs of the people not propagating that President Mills is humble, adding this will not put food on the table of the ordinary Ghanaian.
