“PRESIDENT MILLS IS ON COURSE, BUT WE NEED JOBS”-TAGA

23.02.2012 LISTEN
By Bernard Buachi,

The Trobu-Amasaman Graduates Association (TAGA), a group of young Tertiary school graduates at Amasaman is calling on the government of President John Evans Atta-Mills to endeavor to do more in terms of job creation for the young people of Ghana.

They say that “whiles the NDC government cannot be faulted for the unemployment problem in the country; it is the considered opinion of TAGA that the NDC government has not done enough to mitigate the hardships on the country's graduates”.

“TAGA is not necessarily craving for jobs in the formal sector only but opportunities outside the traditional employment avenues. Atmosphere for accessing loans and credit facilities for entrepreneurial activities should be made possible for graduates willing and able to start life on their own”.

This was contained in a Press statement signed by Lord PercivalsAgbavor Jnr., Deputy Communications Director of TAGA.

The group was however quick to praise the President and his government on his numerous achievements in the fields of education, management of the economy as well as other social interventions embarked upon by the government.

The statement dubbed “still building a better Ghana”, criticized sharply the behavior of some minority members of parliament likening their conduct to that of “kindergarten children” and further questioned how they expect Ghana's parliament to be taken seriously when they continue eroding people's confidence in the legislative arm of government.

They called on government, the media and security agencies to do their best to ensure a free, fair, transparent and peaceful election in December.
