
Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Mr Joe Oteng Adjei, Minister for Energy, on Tuesday said the problem of the malfunctioning Ultra Sonic Meters on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah has been rectified since August 2011.
He said a new one has been built and the two which were on board the FPSO have been recalibrated, adding that the newly acquired meter and one of the recalibrated have been installed on the FPSO.
Mr Adjei said this on the floor of Parliament when he appeared to answer some questions concerning his sector.
He said the recalibration was witnessed by representatives from Standards Board of Ghana and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, adding that the properly calibrated flow meter and the new one were installed on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah in August 2011.
The Minister also answered question on plans to rehabilitate all the non-functional street lights in the Ashaiman Municipality, added that it was the responsibility of the district assembly to maintain the streetlights and that the Ministry after carrying out a particular street lighting project hands over the facility to the respective Assembly.
He said for street lighting projects carried out by individuals, groups or communities through their own efforts, the responsibility for the maintenance of the streetlights lies with such individuals, groups or communities.
Meanwhile three bills, the Companies (Amendment ) Bill, 2011, the Incorporation Private Partnership Bill, 2011, the Registration of Business Names (Amendment) Bill 2011 have been read the second time.
Internal Revenue (Amendment) (NO. 2) bill, 2011 which is at the consideration stage is also listed on the Order Paper.
