31.01.2012 Press Release

DANNY ANNAN, NII NORTEY DUA AND DANIEL AMARTEY WORKING AGAINST THE NDC IN LEDZOKUKU?

31.01.2012 LISTEN
By W.A.R

We are Against Retrogression (W.A.R) is a group of young men and women within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region. The group seeks among others to help project the cause of the youth in Teshie and its environs by constantly demanding accountability and transparency from the leadership of the Party and Government in the Constituency. Again, we seek to project and protect the gains of the NDC in the Constituency in order to position the Party well for all elections.

In the run-up to the recently held NDC Primaries in the Constituency, we promised to safeguard the process of electing the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the 2012 Parliamentary Elections. This we did to the best of our abilities and we are proud to say that our contributions went a long way in helping get the very best Candidate for the Ledzokuku Constituency. We want to take this medium to congratulate the winner, Mrs. Benita Sena Okity-Duah for her legendary win. We noticed with admiration her determination during the campaign period and we are in no way surprise that she emerged as the victor. We credit her with reviving the then dead branches of the Party in the Constituency. And we encourage her to work even harder to retain the seat for the NDC come December 2012.

We also wish to reach out to the vanquished, Hon Reuben Nii Nortey Nortey Dua and Nii Sowah Boye-Sekan. We appreciate the time and resources they invested into the Primaries and wish to congratulate them as well for helping deepen the democratic credentials of the NDC in Ledzokuku. With their support, the NDC was the eventual winner on Saturday. We are indeed, proud of them.

Going forward, we want to entreat all the contestants to call on their supporters to cease with the current antagonizing of their former opponents. The current name-calling is needless. The Primaries are over and it is time we forge ahead as members of one family. In this light, we respectfully want to call on the National Vice Chairman, Hon Danny Annang, the current MP, Hon Nii Nortey Dua and Hon Daniel Amartey, MCE for the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly to immediately abandon their plan to incite the youth and the people of Teshie against the candidature of Mrs. Benita Sena-Okity-Dua.

Our intelligence shows that these respected members of our party are rallying indigenes of Teshie together to organize a Press Conference in the course of the week to denounce the elected Mrs. Okity-Duah and prepare the grounds for an Independent Candidate to run against the NDC Candidate come December 2012. This is not in the interest of the NDC and we humbly wish to ask that the idea is discarded.

Ledzokuku as it is now is more of a cosmopolitan community than a Ga community. Non-Gas make up to closely 53% of the total population and it will be unproductive for anyone to pitch the indigenes against non-indigenes with the hope of working against any non-Ga Contestant.

The NDC has come very far as a political party and the least we can do is not to draw the party back to the stone-ages of politicking on tribal and ethnic considerations. We need to unite and move on, and that is the responsibility of all who profess love for the party.

NDC…….. one family!
Thank you.
Signed
Nii Ayi Anteh
